Kristen is a lifelong athlete, competitor and overall fitness fanatic. She got her start in athletics with martial arts training at the age of seven. Kristen has dabbled in many styles including: American Tae Kwon Do, Sport Karate, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Kung Fu, and May Tai. She is a current 5th Degree Black belt with the World Ranking Association and former national champion in forms, fighting, and weapons. Through training in many martial art disciplines, Kristen knew that cross-training and nutrition are great tools for optimal performance. After receiving her fourth degree black belt, Kristen was seeking a challenge. She was looking for a great way to build strength yet maintain her endurance. Her BJJ instructor happened to own and operate one of the first CrossFit affiliates in the U.S., spawning Kristen’s interest in the up-and-coming ‘sport of fitness.’
“I remember watching the athletes after a Jiu Jitsu class. They would run out of the building as fast as they could, touch a tree about a quarter mile out, come back, flip this huge tire a few times, swing kettlebells, and do it over and over again! I thought these people were insane, but I found it to be so interesting. I wanted to know more.”
Kristen has been in CrossFit since 2012 and earned her CrossFit Level 1 credential shortly there after. Currently, she instructs our On-Ramp classes, and loves working with new athletes to start their health & fitness journey.
