I was working as a Firefighter/Paramedic for the San Diego Fire Department in 2007.  A good friend of mine from the Police Department offered me a free spot to something called a Level 1 CrossFit Certification seminar.  I’ve never been one to turn down something that was free.  So, it was off to my first seminar which was taught by Greg Glassman and my first CrossFit workout was Fight Gone Bad.  Needless to say, I did not do very well and scored a 177.  I was in pretty good shape and just about everyone beat me, so that was the end of my Globo Gym workouts. From then on I turned to CrossFit to advance my fitness.  I joined a CrossFit gym and immersed myself in the culture.

Fast forward 3 years and I was eligible to retire from the Fire Department and Try something else. That something else turned into CrossFit Woodbury, but before we opened our doors I wanted to make sure that I was able to give our athletes the best information available, so I attended the following CrossFit Certifications:

With my family’s support, we moved to Minnesota in 2010 and began our new adventure.  Soon after moving to Woodbury, I began training people in my garage and at the local park.

Four months later, we signed a lease at 680 Commerce Drive Suite 110 in the Crossroads Commerce Center located in East Woodbury.  The warehouse was 3300 square feet with 20 foot ceilings and two roll up doors. In December of 2013 we were able to expand, and added a good chunk of floor space along with a private shower room.

CrossFit Woodbury has grown into a very vibrant community that provides more than just a great fitness option to our athletes. We do fund raising workouts throughout the year for causes from Breast Cancer through the Barbells For Boobs foundation to military scholarship programs through the Tillman Foundation and Memorial Day Murph.
